Our Grenache comes entirely from our estate property located at 2,200 feet in elevation. Outpost grapes are harvested late in the season - by hand, at dawn - to preserve the full intensity and distinctive spicy character of the mountain fruit. Wines are neither fined or filtered allowing for the full expression of the vintages' potential.
Tasting Notes
"Outpost's 2021 Grenache—sourced from a single 1.3-acre block planted in 1998 to a selection from John Alban's Edna Valley vineyard—offers up lovely florals, roses, orange zest and potpourri, making it almost too much of a good thing. Fortunately, all those exotic perfumes are balanced by notes of ripe raspberries and strawberries. Full-bodied, this wine is silky but tannic, possessing ample structure without being hard or tough. All whole-cluster fermented Grenache and aged in used oak, it's a unique wine with a singular personality." - Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate (RP), 94 Points
