Our Immigrant blend comes entirely from our True Vineyard located at 1,800 feet in elevation. Outpost grapes are harvested late in the season - by hand, at dawn - to preserve the full intensity and distinctive spicy character of the mountain fruit. Wines are neither fined or filtered allowing for the full expression of the vintages' potential.
Tasting Notes
"It's both beauty and beast. A sense of sweetness on the nose, at first like strawberries, segues to much darker, deeper flavors and firm, fine-grained tannins on the palate. A massive structure frames dense blueberries, graphite, iron and oak char, with bitter chocolate, espresso and star anise notes. 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Cabernet Franc and 22% Merlot. Drinkable now, but best from 2030." -James Suckling (Jim Gordon, Executive Editor), 96 Points
The vintage
2022 was another superb vintage at Outpost. Summer produced warm days and resulted in one of the hottest growing seasons in 10 years. However, a rain event after extreme heat in September was followed by relatively cool temperatures late into the growing season and allowed for extended hang time and optimal ripening as we harvested under perfect conditions in late October (around the 18th).
